2G vs 3G. Which is better?
EasyMobiles' 3G offering gives you free easy2easy calls. These are unlimited and are free for the first 10 minutes of each and every call, whether you're within the 3G zone or not.
3G stands for 'third generation' and is a mobile content delivery standard that uses high-bandwith to deliver information over the airways. With 3G you can access more content at higher speeds, up to a theoretical maximum of 3.6 MB per second.
3G allows you to not only make your standard calls, send SMS messages and MMS picture messages, but also send video MMS, make live video streaming calls, download ringtones and browse the web at blistering speeds.
As the bandwidth is higher, any data transferred across the network (including voice calls) is cheaper too. While the 3G network is quite new, base stations and towers are being rollled out into new areas on a daily basis.
It's currently limited to the larger metropolitan areas but the benefit of our 3G technology is that its backwards-compatible, meaning that outside of this zone you can still access the 2.5/2G networks for standard phone calls, SMS and MMS, covering over 94% of the population.

About our 2G Telstra-powered service
GSM is a great mobile phone network for customers in capital cities
with excellent in-building coverage, metropolitan areas and for
international travellers. The Telstra 2G network covers over 96% of the Australian population.
Mobile phone usage can sometimes be restricted or even impossible inside certain buildings, structures and some locations, notably within capital cities. Telstra's GSM network has an extensive range of base stations inside many buildings and structures to help provide coverage within some of these difficult areas.
GSM network users can also take advantage of information and data services via GPRS. With a GPRS capable mobile phone you can access information services, the internet, send and receive emails, and more, although it is much slower than 3G's HSDPA mobile internet.
